Grossberg, Yochelson, Fox & Beyda, LLP has an immediate opportunity available for a Legal Assistant in our Property Tax department that will provide support to a small group of attorneys. This position is an in-person role based out of our Washington, DC office. The hours for this position are 9:00 – 5:00, Monday – Friday.
Responsible for supporting all aspects of a high-volume property tax group practicing in DC, Maryland and Virginia, including coordinating with various tax authorities and clients to meet fixed and shifting deadlines in multiple jurisdictions. Assist in the preparation and filing of annual property tax assessment appeals. Maintain practice group’s Excel-based databases of properties and assessment data. Generate project status reports. Ensure that all necessary information needed to provide assessment and tax consulting services is obtained and organized in a timely matter. Ensure that all property tax assessment data collected and entered accurately into the relevant internal databases in a timely fashion. Assume primary ownership for coordinating the timely filing of appeals and reports by a variety of statutory deadlines in each of the jurisdictions where we practice, with minimum supervision. Generate and distribute invoices to clients upon receiving results of assessments. Work cooperatively with team members across the organization. Perform administrative functions as needed for support and organization of property tax group matters. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to grow in this role over time to include expanded responsibilities in the firm’s growing property tax practice.
Candidates must have a college degree and minimum of three years of work experience. Preference will be given to candidates with law firm experience. Excellent communication skills; interpersonal, written & oral presentation. Ability to meet tight deadlines and strong attention to detail. Professional manner and accountable for work performed. Strong independent work ethic.
